Removal of Protective Film on Black or Bronze laminated Vinyl

Posted Jan 9, 2020

In an effort to maintain the long-lasting aesthetic appeal of our products, MI Windows and Doors is requesting installers of our vinyl products with black or bronze exterior laminates to remove the protective film immediately after installation.

This protective film is applied to the vinyl during the manufacturing process to protect the product from damage during shipping and installation. We advise all installers to remove this protective film promptly after installation is complete. The longer the film is left on, the more difficult it is to remove, especially in areas that experience high temperatures and/or elevated solar heat gain. Removal of the film should never exceed 90 days after the product is manufactured.

Over the next couple of months, the protective film used on our laminated products will be updated to include a reminder to remove the film immediately after installation.
