What are your career aspirations?
I hope to one day work for PP&L as a lineman.
Why did you decide to apply for an internship with MI?
Many of my family and friends also work for MI, and having a job so close to home in my career field is even better.
Who did you work with?
I worked under the supervision of Tim Klinger and alongside other maintenance technicians.
Describe your relationship with your mentor.
I think he’s more like my friend, to be honest. We joke around a lot we have a lot of fun. I didn’t ever really feel like I was going to work. It was fun.
What was the most valuable thing you learned?
Repairing different components of the three-phase high voltage extruders. It helped me overcome the nervousness of working with high-voltage and also got me used to the PPE required to handle the voltage. I’m also really glad I learned how to weld.
What advice do you have for future interns coming into MI?
Don’t be scared and be ready to learn. I worked with a lot of guys that are really good at what they do and I think showing a willingness to learn makes everyone’s day a lot easier. If you show them you’re willing to learn, they’ll show you patience and teach you how to do things.
