Raising Awareness and Funds for Breast Cancer Research

MI_Pink_NFRC_LabelThrough the MI Charitable Foundation, MI Windows and Doors and Milgard Windows & Doors have launched an extensive campaign to support breast cancer awareness month in October.

The MI Foundation will kick off the fundraising efforts by donating $50,000 towards breast cancer research, with $25,000 going to both the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

All MI and Milgard windows and doors produced in October will feature pink colored National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) labels. These labels help homeowners compare energy efficiency on windows and doors and the pink color will help raise awareness for breast cancer fundraising efforts. They're also a great photo op for social sharing!

Please join our teams in the fight against breast cancer! Here's how you can get involved:

Ang_photoMI Team Member Shares Her Survival Story to Inspire Others

“When I heard, ‘You have cancer,’ I felt like it was a battle I was not going to win. The day of the surgery I had both doctors working together, one removing the cancer and the other restoring what was left physically. At that moment, I realized how strong I was. I might not be here today telling my story if not for early detection. Now cancer free for 10 years, I realize that I did win the fight after all. It is now my mission to encourage young women battling breast cancer that they too have the strength to win.

This is the message I like to share, ‘You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagine. You will come out at the other end feeling more like yourself than ever before. Stay true and love yourself.’” -Angela Lepore, Inside Sales

Local Support

In addition to the National organizations that we support, MI and Milgard team members are passionate about giving back to local organizations and families. Each MI and Milgard facility is raising funds for local breast cancer charities in their area. Throughout the month of September, the MI and Milgard Outreach Committees raised over $11,000 during a pink merchandise fundraiser to support local families and individuals in the fight against breast cancer. The Gratz Outreach Committee donated the proceeds of this fundraiser to benefit the family of Angela Sebock, a Shoemakersville, Pa., woman who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  To join our Outreach Teams in the fight, visit our online store to purchase a fundraising item.

*The MI Foundation will donate $10 for every public Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram post that includes the hashtag #MIGoPink or #MilgardGoPink up to an additional $10,000, which will also be split between the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
