MI Foundation Honors Local Veterans And Carries Flag In Old Glory Relay

GRATZ, Pa. – MI Windows and Doors, a proud sponsor of the Old Glory Relay, is honoring veterans by hosting a lunch at VFW Post 2385 in Gratz, PA, on Friday, September 17 as the American flag travels through western Schuylkill and northern Dauphin counties.

Team Red, White & Blue – a nonprofit organization forging the nation's leading health and wellness community for veterans – is hosting the Old Glory Relay to help veterans find lasting fulfillment through the creation of deep bonds with other veterans and civilian supporters. Participants can run, walk, or hike while carrying a single American flag from town to town. The event begins on the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11 in New York City, and ends in Atlanta on Nov. 11, Veterans Day. In all, the flag will be carried more than 2,000 miles across 9 states by thousands of people.

“Through our MI Charitable Foundation, our team has made it a priority to support veteran’s affairs, and the Old Glory Relay is an ideal way to commemorate our selfless service men and women who sacrificed so much to provide us the freedoms we enjoy every day,” says MI CEO Matt DeSoto. “It will be so inspiring to see the flag being carried throughout our communities and passing by our manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania. And we are honored to serve our local veterans a wonderful lunch at the VFW.”

The relay will go past MI operations in both Hegins and Gratz on Sept. 17. Participants will stop for lunch around noon at VFW Post 2385, which is located at 424 Specktown Road in Lykens. All VFW Post 2385 members and local military veterans are invited to the lunch.
