The balance is the part of a hung window that counter-balances the weight of the sash when you open and close the window. This video shows how to replace a block-and-tackle balance on single-hung and double-hung windows from MI Windows and Doors. The window used in this video is a HomeMaker3 150 single-hung window with a side-load sash. Your window may look slightly different or have a tilt-in sash, as product appearance varies depending on make and model; however, the process for replacing the balance does not change.
